After a last week’s rescue by police of more than 50 Yorkshire Terriers from a Carbon County home, animal shelters in Monroe and Carbon County now faced with a big problem, too many dogs.
According to the Camp Papillon Animal Shelter President Gerri Papillon, volunteers were all busy on the weekend nursing these dogs back to their health.
Eighteen of the Yorkies are currently staying at Camp Papillon Animal Shelter located in Snydersville. The dogs arrived last week look scared. According to Papillon, they are all covered in fleas and sore with matted fur.
Papillon also added,”The dogs were infested and it would take a lot to try and get rid of for that many dogs”. Camp Papillon Animal Shelter recently opened just five weeks ago and they are stretching their shelter resources to the limit, from feeding them to walking them.
Papillon also added that their volunteers plan to raise money next month. July s their annual Polar Plunge and they are hoping they can raise money to add to their financial assistance. Papillon thanked the volunteers for their much-needed help and sacrifice to help take care of the animals.
